Pudu's Wai Sik Kai @ Jalan Sayur
First on the menu for the night was Yam cake (Wu tau kou in Cantonese). It tasted very good as the yam is soft and mushy. However I felt that not enough yams were used because at one point I was chewing on nothing yam-my.

The particular same stall sells Curry Chee Cheong Fun as well. Mum who went to bought it find the seller rather cute because when my mum wanted to order the seller said "I ask, you answer. Eat? Curry or sauce? Pig skin?". I would say that I agree with many people about how good this Curry Chee Cheong Fun is, the sauce i not too thick and the level of spicyness bearable to non-spicy eaters. However, as you consume more, it will get spicier and spicier. I also notice that almost every table along the Wai Sik Kai had at least a plate of this yummylicious dish.
Since I'm an Assam Laksa no. 1 fan, I ordered the Assam Laksa there as well after recommendations from someone on Friedchillies' forum. This version of Assam Laksa is very similar to the one offered in Petaling Street which means it is very sour and fishy. It lacks the "kick" which means not spicy enough and the fish's sweetness taste was also lacking in its soup. The garnishes (cucumber, onion and pineapple julienne) served with this bowl of noodle were very little as well. I know that some people do love this version of Assam Laksa, but for me and most Penangite, we would avoid this item. I really couldn't handle this dish and had to give it up after eating 1/2 of it.
Other than that, I ordered Sotong Kangkung and Cockles or Siham in Cantonese, from another stall for mum as she really love them. Both dishes was a dissapointment as the sauce served together were bottled ones not homemade ones. The corkles were not cooked and was too bloodish enough for us eventhough I have asked for it to be more cooked. Due to the rawness, it was slightly icky.
As I was still hungry, I went to order Tauhu Bakar which according to the seller, has been featured in the local TV show, Ho Chak!. The seller has been in the business for many many years and you can see that from her food handling techniques. She can just pick up a tauhu that has been grilled on the bbq pit and stuff cucumber and 'sengkuang' julienne into them and serve it with whatever garnish that you want it to be accompanied with. I tried the mixed one which was prawn fritters and bbq sotong stripes. As I am not much of a tauhu bakar lover, I consider this dish quite good but mum said that the cucumber julienne was not enough. Oh well.
Mum was afraid that I would go hungry with the very little food I had and made me tapau something. I opted for the fish porridge with salted egg and deep fried pig's intestines from the famous porridge stall next to the dessert stall. I knew they were good as I had a meal there before, the porridge is soft and smooth, almost like baby food. However this time around, the porridge was burnt. As in you can taste the burnt taste in the porridge eventhough it still looks good. Do try it if you pop by there as I believe this error does not happen often.

All in all, we had quite a wholesome meal with plenty of variety. Best of all, the prices for each dish is pretty reasonable or to some, cheap.
